Dr. LING Wen, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and a chair professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), has devoted himself to addressing large-scale engineering management challenges using systems science theory. He is a pioneer among China’s first generation of doctoral and postdoctoral scholars in systems engineering. Dr. LING had served as the CEO of CHN Energy and later held the position of vice-governor of Shandong Province from 2019 to 2023.
In the field of engineering, Dr. LING has made significant contributions, particularly in leading technological innovation within large energy enterprise groups. Notably, he led the construction of the world’s first 600,000-kilowatt circulating fluidized bed power plant and the world’s largest 4 million tons coal-to-oil demonstration project, both won the first prize of National Award for Progress in Science and Technology.
