Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for the SDGs Forum 2023

The eighth annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held from 3 to 4 May 2023 at the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the UN headquarters in New York.

The theme of the STI Forum 2023 is: “Science, technology and innovation for accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels”. The Forum will pay particular attention to SDG 6, SDG7, SDG 9, SDG 11 and SDG 17 as an input to the July session of the high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF). It will also take a broader look at the contribution of STI to the achievement of all the SDGs as a contribution to the SDG Summit in September.

On 2 May 2023, the first STI in Africa Day will be held at the margins of the STI Forum, co-organized by UNDESA and UNECA, with a focus on STI4SDGs: Priority Areas, Levers and Actionable Steps for Africa.

To complement and amplify the discussions of the Africa Day and STI Forum, the Global Solutions Summit 2023 (GSS 2023) will be held on 5 May, with a focus on Leveraging the Diaspora, Youth, and the African Continental Free Trade Area to Harness Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs 2030.

The co-organizers of GSS 2023 are the Global Solutions Summit (GSS), in partnership with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and its Affiliate Members and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
