On 12 October 2024, I had the honor of leading a delegation of WFEO leadership to the UN Environment Program (UNEP) global headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, where we engaged in a fruitful discussion with Dr. Rose Mwabaza, Director and Regional Representative for Africa.
Key areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration between WFEO and UNEP were highlighted, including the Engineering Capacity Building for Africa Programme, Carbon Capture and Storage, Geoengineering, Solar Radiation Management, and Green Hydrogen production.
The delegation included prominent figures such as WFEO Past President Prof Gong Ke, Chair of WFEO Committee on Capacity Building Eng. Martin Manuhwa, WFEO Executive Council member Eng. Nathaniel Matalanga, Immediate Past President of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) Eng. Eric Ohaga, and Prof Gretchen Kalonji, Special Advisor at International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals.
