The Order of Engineers, Portugal (Ordem dos Engenheiros) presented its International Distinction Award to former WFEO President Dr Marlene Kanga AO, “for the contribution of excellence given to the development and strengthening of relations between the Portuguese Engineers Association and the global Engineering community, embodied in the WFEO” at the Solemn Session of the National Engineer’s Day, 23 November 2024, at Gare Marítima de Alcântara, in Lisbon, Portugal.
The Solemn Session was a moment of celebration for engineers and engineering with many service awards presented to recognise members of the Order of Engineers who have distinguished themselves through their engineering works.
The Order of Engineers, Portugal (Ordem dos Engenheiros) is the national member of WFEO for Portugal and is the regulatory and licensing body for the engineering profession in Portugal. It is headquartered in Lisbon, and has several regional branches in other Portuguese cities. It was established by law in 1936, succeeding the Portuguese Association of Civil Engineers, founded nearly 70 years earlier, with the mission to contribute to the progress of engineering by supporting the efforts of its members in scientific, professional and social areas, as well as to ensure compliance with professional regulations and ethics.
