Abubakar Sani Sambo, a Professor of Mechanical Engineering (Energy Studies) at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, is the President-Elect of The The Nigerian Academy of Science.
He is the Chairman of the Nigerian Member Committee of the World Energy Council. He has previously served as Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University; Director-General of Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and Special Adviser to the President on Energy.
He has a First Class Honours B.Eng degree from A.B.U. Zaria and a D.Phil degree from the University of Sussex (UK) both in Mechanical Engineering. He has written numerous articles on renewable energy, energy planning and appropriate hashtag#technology. After formally retiring from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, the institution honoured him with the Professor Emeritus appointment in April 2024.
