The 2024 World Conference for Internet of Things

The (9th) World Internet of Things (IoT) Convention 2024, themed “Opening Up a New Era of the Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy”, was held from 3 to 5 November in Beijing, China.
 

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres delivered a special speech to the conference.

The conference released the world’s first “White Paper on the World’s Intelligent Connected Digital Economy”, setting a global example for the intelligent connected digital economy of all things. Relevant activities such as the Ambassador Forum and the World New Economy Forum were held.

Representatives of government agencies, diplomatic envoys from more than 60 countries around the world, heads of United Nations agencies and international organizations, representatives of the world’s top 500 Internet of Things enterprises and Internet of Things digital economy enterprises attended this conference. More than ten million guests around the world participated in this conference online and offline.
 

Prof. GONG Ke, Past President of WFEO, delivering his keynote speech
 
Prof. GONG Ke, Past President of WFEO, delivered a keynote presentation at the conference. He first reviewed the development history of the Internet of Things, saying that in the past few decades, the development of the Internet of Things has made remarkable achievements. He said that the Internet of Things still has problems such as inconsistent technical standards, difficulties in security and privacy, insufficient network coverage and stability, and conducted in-depth analysis and discussion on standardization issues in particular. Regarding the future development trends of the Internet of Things, Gong Ke stressed the following: “Embracing AI to drive current IoT to Intelligent IoT“, “Ensuring Safety and Security of IoT” and “Promoting green IoT and developing IoT for SDGs”.
