The 2024 World Conference on Science Literacy (WCSL) was successfully held in Beijing from 5 to 6 December 2024.
The Conference was sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and supported by UNESCO, the International Science Council (ISC), WFEO and the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS).
The Conference received extensive attention and attracted active participation from the international community. Over 400 participants from 11 international organizations and sci-tech institutions across 22 countries exchanged ideas and shared insights on the theme of “Enhance Science Literacy, Empower Joint Development”.
The 2024 WCSL has achieved fruitful outcomes, making remarkable progress in enhancing global public science literacy and promoting international cooperation and exchanges. It has effectively fostered recognition and consensus of shared values and actions among different countries to jointly advance the development of global public science literacy, leading to exchanges and collaborations that have generated widespread and positive social impact.
