We are pleased to announce that Marie-Line Vaiani, Chair of the Energy Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and Secretary General of the French Energy Council, has been appointed as a member of the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET).
An international high-level body under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary-General, the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition contributes to the UN Secretary-General’s goal of building a coalition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and advises the UN on engineering strategies to achieve full decarbonization by 2050.
The CEET was launched in September 2021 by António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and is co-chaired by Gerd Müller, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
The CEET’s main activities include: addressing the challenges of scaling key technologies for the energy transition; recommending guidelines to help countries implement their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in line with the Paris Agreement; publishing technical briefs on zero-carbon technologies, including breakthrough technologies; and analyzing sectoral and integrated pathways at regional and local levels.
