The World Internet of Things Convention 2023 themed “New IoT, New Economy, New Era”, held from 19 to 21 November in Beijing, turned out to be a successful event.
The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres delivered a written address to the annual convention and a video speech from WFEO President Mustafa Shehu was presented.
Besides the Opening and Closing ceremonies, the annual conference also consisted of World New Economic Forum, Ambassadorial-Level Forum, World IoT Top 500 Summit, International Cooperation Forum and twenty plus parallel sessions on industry, agriculture, energy, AI, transportation, healthcare, logistics, culture, education and tourism as well as finance etc, followed by the founding of dozens of global industrial commissions involving multiple sectors. Government officials from various countries, leaders of international organizations including your organization, ISO, IEC, ITU, UNESCO and ETSI respectively spoke at the international convention, which has attracted government officials, diplomatic envoys and corporate representatives from nearly 50 countries.
Hundreds of global mainstream media including World News, CNN, Washington Daily News, Europe Press, Nouvelles D’Europe, PR Newswire, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, CGTN, People’s Daily, etc, various government and organizations websites and thinktanks covered and collected news about the event. According to statistics, the two-day conference boasted more than 2000 participants on site and 20 million attendees online.
In his message to the World Internet of Things Convention, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, “The internet of Things is reshaping industries and driving social-economic changes around the globe. Through the real-time data sharing and networking of information, IoT applications across transportation, agriculture, energy and healthcare are improving quality of life and can advance the Sustainable Development Goals”, while urging, “Only by working together can we ensure the frontier technologies like the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence serve humanity—bridging divides, uplifting lives and leaving no one behind”.
At this year’s annual convention, we issued the Initiative “Build the Intelligently Interconnected Global Market of Digital Economy”, urging countries worldwide to eliminate barriers to innovative development of IoT digital economy, strengthen open cooperation in the innovation of high-tech and collectively create a smart earth as a global home.
The annual event also sorted out the relationship between IoT and digital economy and contributed to a lot of insights from the speakers which helped provide a direction towards the development of digital economy. The organization is opening its original advanced digital economy model and architecture — “Visualized Real-Time Track and Tracing Scenes plus Commercial Customization” to the world.
